Description
The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB) funds conservation of Vermont forests owned and managed by private individuals or families. Working forests supply lumber, pulp, firewood, and biomass products that support jobs and the state’s economy. Conserving them also protects clean air and water, flood resilience, wildlife habitat, recreation, and Vermont’s rural scenery.
Projects must provide a long-term benefit to Vermonters, secured through deed restrictions or another mechanism with lasting effect. VHCB conservation staff review applications and visit properties before preparing projects for the Board, which makes final funding decisions.
