Description
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources administers the Professional Development Assistance (PDA) Program through its Solid Waste Alternatives Program (SWAP). PDA supports the development and delivery of technical assistance, public awareness, continuing education, and other learning opportunities related to waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and solid waste minimization. It serves Iowa’s solid waste professionals, educators, and others directly responsible for reducing waste and diverting it from landfills.
Supported activities include workshops, conferences, professional training, and curriculum delivery to education professionals. Assistance can support both delivering these opportunities and attending solid waste-related events. The program also helps develop, print, and distribute educational and promotional materials, with the goal of minimizing solid waste generation and increasing landfill diversion in Iowa.
