Description
The Medical Research Council (MRC), part of UK Research and Innovation, supports clinically active healthcare professionals undertaking a PhD, MD or similar higher research degree. The fellowship combines research funding, protected time, training and career development to help fellows build clinical academic careers. Clinical work is expected to inform and strengthen the research.
Projects can address any area of MRC’s remit to improve human health, from basic disease-mechanism studies to translational and developmental clinical research. Areas include infections and immunity, molecular and cellular medicine, population and systems medicine, neurosciences and mental health, translation, global health, methodology and public health. Global health projects must align with biomedical discovery through early translation. Research placements overseas, at another UK organisation or in industry support collaboration and cross-sector development.
