Description
Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s Program Development funds support flexible, targeted activities responding to changing coastal situations and new research opportunities. The program funds immediate research on unanticipated coastal issues, emerging research needs, and small-scale innovative projects that may grow into larger research efforts. Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant is a federal–state partnership between the University of Georgia and NOAA’s National Sea Grant College Program.
Support also extends to workshops and educational opportunities connecting marine and coastal science with diverse audiences. Early start-up projects may receive awards when they have the potential to become part of the organization’s four-year planning cycle. The program emphasizes strategically aligned, technically sound work with measurable impact on Georgia, particularly activities whose timing and urgency warrant a responsive award.
