Description
The Program Open Space Local Grant, administered by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), provides annual formula-based funding and technical assistance to Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City for the planning, acquisition, and development of public recreation land and open space areas. The program’s goal is to conserve natural resources while improving outdoor recreation opportunities for Maryland residents. Projects are selected by local jurisdictions, incorporated into their annual Program Open Space (POS) Local Annual Program, and must be approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works.
