The Neurological Foundation’s Programme Grants support established research programmes ready to progress to the next level. Funding supports multidisciplinary teams based in New Zealand, working around a research hypothesis or hypotheses to advance understanding of the causes, diagnosis, prevention or treatment of nervous system diseases and disorders. International collaboration and overseas team members are encouraged where they help build capability in New Zealand.
Programmes combine early-career researchers with established academics, clinicians or scientists, and industry or community partnerships where appropriate. Education and partnership with Māori are integral to the work. Educational activities may include student or trainee development, teaching, and engagement with end-users or community groups. Proposals should demonstrate potential research impact, capacity-building and educational outcomes, with Māori partnership visible throughout the assessment criteria.
