CIHR’s Priority Announcements provide additional funding for highly rated Project Grant applications relevant to specific research priorities. Bridge grants support applications within the fundable range but below the main competition’s funding cut-off. Research prizes supplement funded Project Grants and recognize excellence in designated fields and career stages. Applicants do not submit a separate competition application.
Priorities span acute cardiovascular complications, aging, cancer, genetics, infection and immunity, musculoskeletal health, nutrition and metabolism, and the health effects of AI-enabled technologies. Other areas include pandemic preparedness, patient-oriented research, Indigenous health, and sex and gender science.
