Description
British Heart Foundation Project Grants support defined, short-term investigations relevant to the cardiovascular system, including basic research and applied clinical research. The principal investigator will usually be a postdoctoral researcher at any career stage, working at an established UK research institution. Collaboration between clinicians and basic scientists is encouraged.
Projects should be built around an original hypothesis, supported by background evidence and pilot data, with an experimental design, power calculations and an explanation of the expected value of the results. Funding can support research staff, directly attributable consumables, essential equipment and attendance at relevant scientific meetings. Clinical studies can also receive support, with additional guidance on cost attribution, imaging scans and Clinical Trials Unit involvement. The Project Grants Committee makes decisions after considering external peer review.
