Description
The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) provides project-specific support to schools, nonprofit organizations, arts educators, and teaching artists. Projects give learners sustained opportunities to make art and explore the artistic process—not simply watch a presentation. The program prioritizes Pre-K–12 students and aims to strengthen local teaching artists and nonprofits while expanding access to high-quality arts learning.
Supported work includes in-school artist residencies, arts integration, community engagement, school enhancement, and curriculum development. Community-based learning may take place in summer camps, after-school programs, or weekend programs. Projects must be discrete activities with a beginning and end, rather than an organization’s entire season of programming. RISCA particularly values work that connects with and benefits underserved communities.
