Description
The Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office (HSO) administers federal Project Grants to help agencies and nonprofits address identified traffic safety problems in Nebraska. The program funds projects intended to reduce crashes, deaths, and serious injuries. Its emphasis areas include impaired driving, distracted driving, occupant protection, youth driving and education, and speeding.
The grants are intended as seed money for new or expanded traffic safety activities. For FY2027, the HSO identified 25 priority counties through crash-data analysis. State and local government agencies and nonprofits proposing fatality and injury crash prevention work in those counties receive preferential consideration.
