Description
Project Next Generation (PNG) is a competitive grant program by the Illinois State Library aimed at bridging the digital divide in underserved communities. The program funds public libraries to implement technology-based educational and mentorship projects targeting students in grades 5 through 12. Libraries use the funds to provide access to computers, software, and hands-on learning opportunities, while also engaging mentors who support students' self-confidence, critical thinking, and life skills development. Programs may focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) concepts and must address the specific needs of the target audience.
