Description
This grant, administered by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) Special Education Services Section, funds the implementation or expansion of Project SEARCH programs in Alabama public school systems (LEAs). Project SEARCH is a nationally recognized transition-to-work initiative for students with disabilities, providing immersive, workplace-based training, classroom instruction, and individualized job development. The grant reimburses eligible LEAs for Project SEARCH licensing fees and related costs, such as materials, supplies, and professional development for program staff. The initiative aims to enhance employment outcomes and independence for participating students by fostering strong partnerships among schools, vocational rehabilitation, community agencies, and host businesses.
