Description
The University of Maryland, College Park’s Proposal Reviewer Fund supports proposal teams in engaging external subject-matter, agency, or program experts to review draft proposals before submission to significant external funding opportunities. These rigorous reviews, commonly called red team reviews, help teams strengthen a proposal’s responsiveness and competitiveness by addressing expert feedback before submitting it.
The fund is part of the Maryland Catalyst Fund, overseen by the Vice President for Research (VPR) and managed by the Research Development Office. It focuses on external reviewer honoraria rather than broader proposal-development expenses. Reviewer honoraria are also eligible for Big Opportunity Funds, but the Proposal Reviewer Fund is the better option when honoraria are the only proposal-development costs requested.
