This initiative is designed to enhance Princeton University's research infrastructure by funding the acquisition of major, transformative scientific equipment. The program supports both new equipment purchases in response to emerging research needs and the replacement of critical instruments in shared facilities. Awards are intended to address significant gaps in campus research capabilities, enabling innovative research and expanding access to cutting-edge technologies for the Princeton research community.
Proposals are evaluated on scientific impact, equipment necessity and uniqueness, user community, management and training plans, as well as operational and maintenance strategies. The program strongly encourages leveraging both internal and external resources to maximize the impact of equipment investments.
