Description
The South Carolina Arts Commission’s Public Art Grants support organizations developing and caring for local artwork intentionally created for the public realm. Eligible art forms are murals, sculptures, light installations, and sound installations. Projects may be indoors or outdoors, on public or private property, but must be free, accessible, and consistently available to everyone. The primary focus must be creative expression, community identity, or aesthetics rather than historical commemoration.
Support includes new work and the maintenance, repair, or revitalization of existing pieces. Eligible activities include artist design and project management, fabrication, site preparation, installation, specialist consultation, documentation, marketing, signage, public art tours, workshops, and programs. Review criteria emphasize connections among artwork, site, and community history or identity, alongside public participation and disability access.
