Public Art in Community Grant supports Mississippi community nonprofits in creating accessible, community-designed public art and, in alternating years, free concerts that bring people to the artwork’s site.

Description
The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC), in partnership with the Levitt Foundation and other partners, supports the community-engaged design, installation, and activation of accessible public art. The program aims to create vibrant destinations shaped by local voices and reflective of Mississippi’s artistic excellence. Projects should bring together community partners and place artwork at sites that remain welcoming and publicly accessible.
In alternating years, the public art award is paired with a three-year Levitt AMP Music Series Grant. Grantees in those years present free, family-friendly outdoor concerts at the new artwork’s site, featuring musically diverse local, regional, and national artists. The site may also host community activities such as markets, festivals, and celebrations.
