Description
FEMA’s Public Assistance program provides supplemental federal grants to government organizations and certain private nonprofit organizations following a Presidential disaster declaration. In New Hampshire, the Department of Safety’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) administers assistance supporting rapid response and recovery from major disasters or emergencies. Funded work includes debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures, and repair, replacement, or restoration of disaster-damaged publicly owned facilities and eligible nonprofit facilities.
The program also supports hazard mitigation measures during recovery to protect damaged facilities against future events. Emergency work and permanent restoration are organized into work categories covering debris, protective measures, roads and bridges, water control facilities, buildings and equipment, utilities, and parks and other facilities.
