    Description

The Franco Family Institute for Liberal Arts & the Public Good at the University of Notre Dame offers Publication Grants to help faculty publish peer-reviewed scholarly monographs. Support helps defray book production costs, image acquisition and permissions, professional indexing, and copyediting or developmental editing. The program also offers manuscript workshop support for discussions with external reviewers.

The goal is to substantially reduce, rather than eliminate, publication costs. Publication subventions go directly to publishers to offset production expenses or lower book prices, increasing dissemination of faculty scholarship. Awards are competitive and not guaranteed. Selection considers the quality and reputation of the press, the faculty member’s professional standing, and the quality of the scholarly contribution, with funding priority given to assistant and associate professors.
