Description
The Washington State Department of Ecology leads the Stormwater Strategic Initiative within the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Estuary Program for Puget Sound. The initiative funds projects that prevent stormwater pollution, improve water quality, and protect the estuary and its aquatic life. Ecology works with EPA and the Puget Sound Partnership, while an advisory team helps develop an annual Investment Plan to guide funding priorities.
Competitive solicitations target activities identified in the Investment Plan, Puget Sound Implementation Strategies, and Action Agenda. Previously funded work includes research on contaminants of emerging concern, stormwater planning and feasibility, water quality improvement projects, best management practices, and public education. Project eligibility depends on the individual request for proposals.
