The Purple Martin Conservation Association (PMCA) offers annual Research and Conservation Grants to students, professionals, and individuals engaged in Purple Martin research. PMCA is an incorporated nonprofit dedicated to the conservation, management, restoration, and enhancement of the Purple Martin (Progne subis). The grants help defray expenses incurred in scientific research and conservation projects that contribute to understanding and protecting the species.
Under certain circumstances, PMCA also considers projects involving other New World swallows or cavity nesters, especially threatened or endangered species. Housing placement for conservation purposes may be supported, but housing installed strictly for aesthetic or humanitarian purposes is excluded. Projects testing martin house design preferences are also excluded because PMCA conducts that research at its headquarters.
