Description
Administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), the New Work Grant supports emerging individual artists and artist collectives across all artistic disciplines. It funds work that has not previously been produced or presented to an audience, including unpresented works in progress and entirely new projects. Projects must combine creation with a public arts experience for Queens communities, such as an exhibition, performance, festival, screening, reading, or workshop.
The grant is one of two Queens Arts Fund programs supporting local artwork and cultural programming that highlights, engages, and bolsters the borough’s diverse communities. Priorities include artist-driven collaboration, cultural access for under-resourced communities, cultural traditions and contemporary expressions of cultural ethnicity, distinctive programming, and geographic distribution across Queens neighborhoods. Free or sliding-scale, ADA-accessible public programs receive preference.
