Description
The Royal Academy of Engineering administers these Leverhulme Trust-funded fellowships to help early- to mid-career engineering academics concentrate on research. The scheme addresses the growing teaching and administrative workload that can accompany academic progression, paying for a replacement academic so awardees can reinvigorate existing research or initiate new lines of work.
Research may span any engineering discipline, including computer science, materials and multidisciplinary fields, provided a clear engineering problem and engineering-led methods or solutions are central. Alongside protected time and research expenses, fellows receive mentoring from an Academy Fellow, training and networking opportunities, and membership of the Awardee Excellence Community. The aim is to strengthen research track records, improve prospects for further funding and support research-team growth.
