Founded and administered by Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, this collaborative program streamlines applications across childhood cancer funding organizations. It supports fellows, investigators, and multi-institution consortia developing safer, more effective treatments and advancing research toward eliminating childhood cancer. The program considers all childhood cancer types and supports continued investment in projects as they progress.
General priorities include innovative approaches leading to advanced studies, improved treatment delivery or clinical translation; discovery-oriented basic science; personalized, targeted, alternative or integrative research; and under-studied cancers. Quality of life, survivorship, palliative care, and data standardization, collection, storage, analysis and sharing are also priorities. Outside the Box grants instead support novel ideas within four specific focus areas, including ideas without preliminary data when a strong case for potential patient impact can be made.
