Description
The Wildlife Conservation Board leads this program under California’s Rangeland, Grazing Land and Grassland Protection Act of 2002. It uses conservation easements to prevent rangeland, grazing land, and grassland from being converted to nonagricultural uses while sustaining livestock grazing over the long term. The program also seeks to preserve the wildlife, water quality, watershed, and open-space benefits these lands provide.
Projects must protect the integrity of the land. The Board encourages innovative compatible uses that address sustainability and projects developed with partners to address regional landscape issues.
