The Wikimedia Foundation’s Rapid Funds support individuals, informal groups, Wikimedia affiliates, and nonprofits with a Wikimedia mission. Administered by the Community Resources team, the program funds future, planned work that improves one or more Wikimedia projects. Supported activities include local campaign events, community meetups, editathons, workshops, affiliate planning, education and editing training, cultural heritage initiatives, and small-scale software development.
Projects may expand participation by women, gender-diverse people, and underrepresented communities, or improve content about these groups and their knowledge. Support can cover event spaces, outreach, services, prizes, online access, organiser travel, and compensation for defined roles that do not replace volunteer activities, including training, translation, childcare, project management, and Wikimedian-in-Residence work.
