Description
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society Foundation partners with the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) through RAPID to support junior faculty and senior fellows pursuing research careers in academic pediatrics. The PIDS partnership supports two scholars whose work addresses the treatment, control, and eradication of infectious diseases affecting children. Each scholar receives support for a one-year research project, mentoring by senior expert investigators, and participation in the 2027 RAPID Conference.
Launched in 2012, RAPID aims to recruit, retain, and advance early clinician-investigators, particularly individuals who have experienced significant adversity or challenges. Research support is paired with leadership and career development training, national networking opportunities, and monthly Scholar calls connecting participants with peers and mentors. The broader RAPID program accepts applicants from any pediatric subspecialty through its funding partnerships.
