Description
The Florida Department of Health administers this opportunity through the Andrew John Anderson Pediatric Rare Disease Grant Program, with guidance from the Rare Disease Advisory Council. Competitive, peer-reviewed grants support innovative research and therapeutic approaches for non-cancer pediatric rare diseases. The program seeks to expand research capacity in Florida, investigate novel approaches, and reduce research silos through partnerships with nontraditional partners.
Priority is given to projects that reduce mortality and morbidity, improve screening accuracy and detection in high-risk groups, or establish collaborative research consortia. Funding mechanisms cover consortium research, discovery science infrastructure, equipment, and high-risk investigations with potentially transformative results. The broader program also seeks to reduce the impact of rare pediatric diseases on underserved populations.
