Description
The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) offers the Readiness to Implement LifeSkills Grant as part of its Botvin LifeSkills Training substance abuse prevention opportunities. It supports schools, districts, and Educational Service Districts (ESDs) in analyzing local Healthy Youth Survey data, identifying substance use prevention and intervention needs, and deciding whether the Botvin LifeSkills curriculum fits those needs.
Botvin LifeSkills teaches young people to manage stress and anxiety, build relationships and communication skills, and develop refusal skills intended to prevent and reduce substance use. OSPI provides a map showing how the middle-school curriculum aligns with Washington Health and Physical Education standards.
