Description
The Reclamation and Development Grants Program (RDGP) is a state-funded program administered by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC). Project Grants support sampling, design, and construction that mitigate mineral development impacts on public resources or address crucial state needs. Reclamation projects may restore land and water, investigate and remediate hazardous waste sites, assess environmental damage, or support research, demonstrations, and technical assistance promoting environmentally compatible mineral use and processing.
Crucial state need projects address urgent natural resource concerns of regional or statewide importance. These include drought mitigation, high hazard dam projects that prevent damage from failure, and other work preventing severe environmental harm or capturing extraordinary public benefits that would otherwise be lost. Both project categories receive equal preference in ranking.
