Description
The Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Awards are administered by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). The program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with teacher support. It encourages schools to develop publications that celebrate the art and craft of writing, emphasize excellence in writing, and foster school-wide participation.
REALM is one of NCTE’s three recurring Student Writing Awards. Its focus is recognition of student publications, rather than research or project funding. National judges evaluate submitted magazines using a point system that determines award placement. Recognized schools receive certificates, and NCTE publishes the names of their student editors, literary advisors, and schools.
