Description
The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federal assistance initiative administered in Maine by the Bureau of Parks and Lands. The program provides funding to develop and maintain recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both motorized and nonmotorized uses. RTP aims to enhance trail networks, improve accessibility and safety, promote tourism and economic development, and preserve public access for recreation. Projects should be well-planned, address user and landowner needs, leverage additional resources, and support the longevity and cultural value of public trails.
