Description
The Recreational Trails Program provides annual Federal Highway Administration funding administered in Vermont by the Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation. It supports public trails for motorized, nonmotorized, and multi-use recreation. Eligible work includes trail construction and restoration, trailhead and trailside facilities, trail construction and maintenance equipment, trail corridor acquisition, and trail-related education.
The program aims to strengthen the quality, reach, and resilience of Vermont’s trails; improve recreation opportunities and environmental stewardship; and connect residents and visitors with places to recreate. Projects must advance the goals, objectives, and priorities of Vermont’s Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.
