Description
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), through its Recycling Business Assistance Center, offers this annual grant to recycling businesses in the state. It supports capital investments in equipment, buildings, and infrastructure that improve recycling capacity or efficiency and put recovered materials to economic use instead of sending them to landfills.
Projects may improve collection, sorting, processing, reuse, or manufacturing with recovered materials. Eligible capital purchases include sorting machinery, shredders, balers, containers, carts, trailers, trucks, forklifts, and building improvements. Past awards have supported residential collection, material recovery facilities, and processing of materials including plastics, textiles, metals, and solar panels.
