Description
The Recycling Business Development Grant is an annual program administered by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality through its Recycling Business Assistance Center. It supports capital investments in equipment, buildings, and infrastructure that move materials from landfill disposal into economic use. Funded work includes expanding collection, processing recovered materials, reusing products, and manufacturing new products from recycled materials.
The program focuses on purchases that directly improve or expand recycling operations and address infrastructure or market needs. Past projects have supported plastics, paper, metals, textiles, batteries, solar panels, composting, building material recovery, and residential recycling collection. Proposals should demonstrate tangible results, such as additional tons diverted, new jobs, and operational savings, along with the business experience and planning needed for long-term project success.
