The Reel Change Film Fund supports developing composers creating music for film through targeted grants and high-impact mentorship. Administered by New Music USA and powered by SESAC and composer Christophe Beck, with additional sponsorship from Sonos, the program helps composers at pivotal career stages realize original scores and build sustainable careers. It was established to expand opportunities for composers of diverse backgrounds who have been marginalized in film composition.
The fund supports film projects currently in production where additional funding and mentoring can help advance a composer’s career. Alongside financial support for score production, an advisory board of leading film composers provides mentorship to grantees and selected interested applicants. Launched in October 2020 as a five-year initiative, Reel Change received renewed funding in 2025 for three additional years.
