Description
The Reese Fellowship supports research in American bibliography and projects in the history of the book in America. Administered by the American Antiquarian Society (AAS), it is part of the Society’s one- to two-month residential academic research fellowship program. Funding for the award is provided by the William Reese Company of New Haven, Connecticut. Fellows spend their residency using the AAS library’s resources for research and writing.
Supported projects explore printing, publishing, reading, and the circulation of texts in their literary, religious, and cultural contexts. Past work has examined German-American printing and book distribution, Anne Bradstreet’s publication history, African American historians and book history, American autograph albums, and prints, broadsides, and facsimiles of the Declaration of Independence.
