The Regional Awards for Excellence in High School Teaching recognize, encourage, and stimulate outstanding high school chemistry teachers within the American Chemical Society (ACS) Regions. Recipients are selected based on exceptional teaching quality, innovative classroom methods, ability to inspire students, extracurricular involvement, ongoing professional development, and leadership in chemistry education. Awardees receive a cash prize, an engraved plaque, and reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses to attend the ACS Regional Meeting where the award is presented. Additional recognition may be provided to the recipient’s institution, and awardees may be invited to deliver a keynote address or participate in a symposium with fellow teachers.
