Description
The American Chemical Society’s Regional Awards for Excellence in High School Teaching recognize, encourage, and stimulate outstanding high school chemistry teachers across ACS Regions. Sponsored by the Division of Chemical Education, the awards honor teaching quality, particularly unusually effective presentation methods and the ability to challenge and inspire students. They also recognize extracurricular work that builds young people’s interest in chemistry and related sciences, including science fairs and science clubs.
The program values continued professional learning and leadership, including further education, refresher courses, summer institutes, scientific meetings, and participation in professional organizations. Recipients are recognized at Regional Meetings and may be asked to give a keynote address or participate in a symposium with other teachers.
