The Renal Pathology Society (RPS) administers this award to support international education in renal pathology. It helps trainees attend RPS-sponsored or endorsed courses and meetings in any country through travel or registration support. It also helps meeting organizers assemble educational materials and provide associated infrastructure, including glass-slide scanning, servers, and microscope or computer rooms.
Dr. Patrick Walker established the award in honor of Dr. Helen Liapis and her contributions to renal pathology, with seed funding donated on behalf of Arkana Labs at her retirement in 2016. The RPS Nomination & Award Committee oversees the award, which supports the Society’s commitment to training and education in renal disease.
