Funding Amounts: €800,000 available; up to €60,000 per SME across all RENEW-BOOSTER calls; projects last 3–6 months
Summary: Supports SME innovations strengthening European photovoltaic, offshore wind, and energy-grid value chains.
Key Information: Private financial co-funding is mandatory; personnel costs and in-kind contributions cannot count toward it.
RENEW-BOOSTER provides cascade funding to SMEs developing innovations for resilient and diversified European renewable-energy supply chains. Backed by the European Commission’s Single Market Programme, the RENEW-BOOSTER project awards and pays the support itself. Its priorities include reducing critical-material dependencies, strengthening industrial competitiveness, and accelerating the green and digital transitions.
The call covers photovoltaics, offshore wind—including floating offshore wind—and energy grids. Relevant work includes components, materials substitution and recycling, manufacturing improvements, monitoring technologies, and digital or system-integration solutions. Strand A funds responses to predefined industrial challenges, while Strand B supports bottom-up innovation and supply-chain diversification. Proposals must explicitly explain alignment with Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and/or Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA) objectives.
