Description
The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) offers Private Grants through its Renewable Resource Grant and Loan Program. The grants support private entities’ water-related projects that promote conservation, development, and beneficial use of Montana’s water resources, with the goal of economic and social prosperity for Montana citizens. Projects must provide public benefits as well as any private benefits and use water efficiently without diminishing its quality.
Supported work includes septic system repair, replacement, and upgrades; connection to municipal sewer services; dam inspections and repairs; irrigation improvements; privately owned public water supply improvements; emergency water system improvements; and watershed improvements. Most funds target small, privately owned water or wastewater systems. Projects serving more than one purpose receive priority where practicable.
