Description
The Renters Safe Housing Incentive Program (RSHI) is administered by the Office of Resilient Homes and Communities within New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR). This program is funded through Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and aims to support long-term recovery for renters impacted by Hurricane Ida in Dutchess, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, and especially Westchester Counties. Selected nonprofit organizations will provide case management services, outreach, eligibility review, housing inspections, housing counseling, and disbursement of incentives or down payment assistance to eligible renters. The program’s goal is to help displaced and vulnerable populations access safe, permanent housing while maintaining rigorous compliance and reporting standards.
