    Description

The Hypersomnia Foundation’s Research Award supports established and early-career researchers investigating non-cataplectic hypersomnias, including idiopathic hypersomnia, narcolepsy type 2, Kleine-Levin syndrome, and some hypersomnias due to other conditions. The Foundation is interested in all primary hypersomnias, with a particular focus on idiopathic hypersomnia and its overlap with narcolepsy type 2.

The program funds patient-identified priorities: identifying phenotypes and underlying causes, developing biomarkers and functional or quantitative assessment tools, and improving personalized treatment. The Foundation also supports research on medicine safety and effectiveness, including drug repurposing. It gives higher priority to projects with a clear path toward future research, particularly initial findings that could support larger grant applications such as those to the National Institutes of Health.
