    Description

The Jacobs Foundation funds two major international research centers—CELLA (Center for Learning and Living with AI) and CERES (Connecting the EdTech Research EcoSystem)—to advance the design, development, and application of artificial intelligence and educational technology in schools. The initiative’s goals are to bridge the gap between academic research and the EdTech industry, promote evidence-based technology integration in education, address digital inequality, and foster the next generation of researchers. CELLA focuses on co-creation with secondary schools and EdTech entrepreneurs worldwide, developing intelligent learning systems such as adaptive platforms and immersive technologies (VR/AR). CERES, based at UC Irvine, works to align digital educational tools with practices proven to enhance children’s learning and to reduce digital access gaps.
