The Research Fellows program at the Institute of English Studies (IES), part of the University of London’s School of Advanced Study, is designed for established researchers with a significant track record who wish to engage in ongoing collaboration and academic activity with the Institute. Fellows are expected to participate actively in the Institute’s research initiatives, events, and networks, and are encouraged to contribute to interdisciplinary projects across the School. The fellowship offers a range of non-monetary benefits, including institutional affiliation, shared office space, access to the Senate House Library, an IES email account, free attendance at events, reduced-cost summer school places, and competitive access to travel/research expense funds.
Fellows are expected to play a visible role in the Institute’s academic life, such as leading or contributing to research projects, participating in seminars and conferences, applying for research grants to be held at the Institute, and ensuring that the Institute is credited in resulting scholarly outputs. Physical presence at the Institute is encouraged to foster engagement with the research community.
