The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) offers Research Fellowships for research stays in the United States during 2027–2028. The program supports individuals at master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels in any field of research. Fellows carry out a proposed project within a relevant, high-quality research unit at a U.S. university or institution, coordinating their stay with a U.S. supervisor.
Each fellowship supports a 12-month research stay through a non-renewable grant and coverage under BAEF’s health insurance policy. Master’s-level fellowships are specifically for a research gap year, not coursework or research earning degree credits at the home institution. The program forms part of BAEF’s educational exchange mission to foster mutual respect and appreciation between Belgium and the United States.
