Description
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) runs these fellowships to help excellent young researchers concentrate on freely chosen research based on their own innovative ideas. As Japan’s core program for cultivating young researchers, it emphasizes research independence, significant approaches, unique methods, and the potential to become an outstanding researcher who will shape the future of science.
The program supports doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, researchers restarting after childbirth or childcare interruptions, and first-year PD fellows pursuing cross-border research. All fields of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences are covered. Fellows choose their research institution independently and may spend part of their tenure at another institution, including overseas, when necessary to advance their research.
