Key Information: Fellows reside on the library grounds in the shared Richard and Helen DeVos House.
The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association supports residential research fellowships through the George Washington Presidential Library at George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Virginia, roughly 15 miles south of Washington, D.C. The program provides one-, three-, or six-month periods for researchers working on the early American period, including academics, public historians, independent scholars, and graduate students.
The library’s collections include materials related to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Fellowships combine dedicated research time with access to these holdings, specially trained library staff, and Mount Vernon’s on-site experts. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the online catalogs before applying to identify materials that could supplement their projects.
