    Description

The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), through the ASES Foundation, offers an annual Research Grant to encourage new investigators with seed and start-up support for promising shoulder and elbow research. The program supports the Foundation’s mission to develop and provide resources that advance shoulder and elbow care. Applications are reviewed and graded by the ASES Research Committee.

Previously supported work spans clinical trials, outcomes research, biomechanics, and laboratory studies. Topics include shoulder replacement, shoulder instability, proximal humerus fractures, rotator cuff disease, tendon healing, elbow ligament injuries, infection diagnosis, and tissue responses to implant wear. Recent awards supported research on prehabilitation before reverse shoulder arthroplasty and comparisons of anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement.
