Description
The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) Research Grant Program supports clinicians and scientists conducting patient-centered research on primary immunodeficiency (PI). It funds work aimed at improving treatment, health, disease management, or diagnosis, as well as research that contributes to the broader body of knowledge on PI. The program was established to provide seed funding for well-defined research projects with a specified benefit for people living with these conditions.
Scientific merit guides selection through an independent peer review process modeled on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) system. IDF’s Research Committee, composed of recognized immunologists and past grant awardees, scores proposals and recommends the highest-scoring projects for funding. Recent supported work addresses rare primary immunodeficiencies and the development of diagnostics and treatments.
