The ACS Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Roundtable funds research toward more sustainable chemistries and processes for pharmaceutical and allied industries. The Roundtable is a partnership between the ACS Green Chemistry Institute and pharmaceutical-related companies. Its Key Research Area Grants address priorities identified from an industry perspective, with recipients working closely with the focus team that proposed their topic.
The Ignition program, launched in 2016, supports ambitious, novel, high-risk, high-reward ideas across green chemistry and engineering relevant to pharmaceutical discovery and manufacturing. It provides initial funding to generate preliminary results that researchers can use to seek support from traditional funding agencies. Ignition recipients collaborate with appropriate Roundtable members. Both programs prioritize public dissemination of research rather than proprietary intellectual property generation.
