Description
AO Trauma, a clinical division of the AO Foundation, offers global and regional research funding to support clinicians’ research career development and advance evidence-based musculoskeletal trauma care. The program funds clinical, basic, and applied research aimed at solving highly relevant clinical problems, developing treatment methods and guidelines, and publishing useful outcomes. Regional opportunities serve Europe and Southern Africa, Middle East and Northern Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.
Research supported by the program includes fracture management, fixation strategies, implant performance, diagnostic assessment, infection, bone regeneration, and recovery. The Clinical Priority Program (CPP) focuses on fracture non-union, a significant complication in orthopaedic trauma surgery. Alongside research grants, AO Trauma is developing structured training opportunities for young investigators, including training grants, research mentorship, and surgical training courses promoting best practices in preclinical and clinical research.
